Grinduro – Shooting a gravel race on an e-bike

–––

We followed Ted King to Quincy, CA, this September to document his experience at Grinduro. This isn’t your typical gravel race. It’s a 60 mile, mass start, mixed terrain shred fest with timed uphill and downhill segments that determine the winner. It has a similar format to the Ranger VT, one of our favorite gravel events in Vermont.

We shot this entire event atop a Cannondale Habit NEO E-Bike. No car, no moto, just one battery, and a big camera bag. It was hilariously fun to ride ahead of the group, set up, get the shot, jump back in with the group, and keep riding. At times it was hard to get the production quality we desired, especially on the timed segments (note the GoPro footage), but all in all, we were pleased with the final product. Give the full cut a watch and enjoy some of our stills below.
