Reuse & Recycle: how to make the most of your content during COVID

–––

Whatever you’re doing, do not despair. We at Vermont Social are extremely bummed that the majority of our shoots for the upcoming months have been canceled. We took a minute to mourn this, just as everyone is taking time to adjust their expectations these days, and then we got focused.

Biking is a big part of our business and our vision. While big races are off the table for now, riding solo (safely) is picking up popularity. Get exercise and stay sane through peddling with a nice long ride. In fact, New York City is already seeing a surge in biking as people avoid the subway and opt-out of Ubers. A surge in riders could mean a surge in the need for biking content online, and bike tools and accessories.

While in-person production, events, and shopping are discouraged for the foreseeable future, there is still so much you can do right now to expand your reach and grow your business. Take the content you already have and repurpose it in creative ways to meet your needs. This could take many forms, for example:

  • Look at your archives. It’s likely that you have some unused footage or photos that will make your audience smile.

  • Make some throwback or flashback posts using popular content from the past. Encourage people to engage and ask them if they remember where or when the photo or video was taken and who is in it.

  • Turn to your audience and make compilations of fan-generated material.

  • Make use of direct engagement features on Twitter and Instagram like polls, quizzes, and more.

Whichever way you spin it, social media is key to this moment. Content consumption is going up as people move to remote work, remote study, and depend more on the internet to bring them social interaction and critical information. So, seize this moment to re-commit to a beautiful and bountiful content strategy.
